The working principle of the pneumatic steam trap: The steam trap functions to prevent steam leakage and drain condensate in steam heating systems. It must be capable of distinguishing between steam and condensate, which is based on three principles: density difference, temperature difference, and phase change.

When the signal pressure of the pneumatic steam trap is input into the diaphragm chamber, a thrust is generated on the diaphragm, compressing the spring and moving the push rod, which drives the valve stem to change the flow area between the valve core and the valve seat until the counterforce of the spring balances the thrust of the signal pressure on the diaphragm, thus achieving the purpose of automatic regulation of process parameters.

The actuator of a pneumatic steam trap operates in two modes: forward and reverse. When the signal pressure increases, the push rod extends beyond the diaphragm chamber, functioning as the forward actuator to form a pneumatic shut-off valve. Conversely, when the signal pressure rises, the push rod retracts into the diaphragm chamber, acting as the reverse actuator to create an open valve.
