The KMP gearbox, a product developed through localized production of German FLENDER technology, was specifically engineered to meet the operational demands of ALSTOM's HP series coal mills in the U.S. Its design features a first-stage helical bevel gear pair with carburized and hardened surfaces, precision-shafted, and a second-stage planetary gear transmission. Both sun and planet gears utilize hardened tooth grinding, while the internal gear ring employs high-strength quenched and tempered materials with involute milling. The shaft components are equipped with long-life SKF or FAG rolling bearings. The gearbox's upper section incorporates 12 self-aligning sector thrust bearings that withstand the massive axial loads from coal mills, transmitting them directly to the foundation through the housing walls. The welded structure, reinforced with multiple stiffening ribs, ensures structural integrity and rigidity under load.

The KMP series gearbox features a dedicated oil supply system for lubrication and cooling. The filtered and cooled lubricating oil is delivered through the oil spray pipes within the gearbox to all gears and bearings.

The KMP gearbox offers four models (KMP225, KMP250, KMP300, KMP340) with six gear ratios (21.5, 23.625,25.412,27.7, 29.748,32.435), designed to meet the operational requirements of coal mills with HP683 to HP1103.

The assembly structure of KMP reducer boxes is basically the same for all specifications, and the text uses a unified name. The different speed ratios are achieved by changing the number of teeth in the first-stage helical bevel gear pair.
