Indonesias Nansu power plant enters commercial operation

Recently, the National Energy Group Indonesia Nansu Power Plant officially obtained the commercial operation certificate issued by Indonesian Power Company. The project was put into commercial operation in accordance with the power purchase and sale agreement. The Nansu Power Plant was won by China Energy Group through Indonesia’s international public bidding in November 2015.

This project is located in South Sumatra, Indonesia, and has two 350,000-kilowatt supercritical coal-fired generating units. After the project was put into operation, the total installed capacity of the power projects operated by China Energy Group in Indonesia reached 3.1 million kilowatts, ranking first among Chinese-funded independent power generation operators.

Indonesia straddles the equator and has a tropical rainforest climate with high temperatures and rainy weather. The project's delivery line passes through areas with poor infrastructure and complex geographical environment. The project company overcame numerous difficulties in the project and completed the construction of the main project of the power plant to high standards. It completed the construction of the 80-kilometer transmission project and reverse power transmission with the fastest efficiency for similar projects in the same region. In order to achieve the goal of the project being put into production as soon as possible, the project made every effort to optimize and compress the commissioning period by formulating a dual-machine synchronization plan, optimizing the pickling plan and other measures, and achieved good results. Unit 1 was successfully connected to the grid within 35 days after the reverse power supply, and "dual-machine dual-transmission" was completed within 89 days. The operating indicators of the unit were all better than the design.

The Indonesian Nansu Power Plant is the "first coal-fired independent power producer (IPP) project won overseas by National Energy Group in implementing the "going global" strategy. It is a representative project that actively responds to the high-quality "One Belt, One Road" initiative. The Nansu Power Plant embodies China's comprehensive advantages in design, manufacturing, construction management and commissioning. It will significantly enhance the power supply capacity of the Sumatra Island power grid and effectively promote regional economic and social development and improvement of people's livelihood.
