The GECELCA coal-fired power plant in Colombia is located in Puerto Libertad, Cordoba Province, in northwestern Colombia. The second-phase construction scale includes one 300MW coal-fired unit, marking the first power plant project undertaken by a China enterprise in Colombia and also the first turnkey coal-fired power plant project secured by a Chinese company through international bidding in South America.

The first phase of the GECELCA project comprises a 185 MW coal-fired power unit, while the combined installed capacity of both phases accounts for one-third of Colombia's total coal-fired power capacity. Historically dominated by hydropower, Colombia faces power supply shortages during dry seasons. The GECELCA project provides enhanced reliability for electricity supply to local residents and industrial sectors.
Jiangsu Haokun Electric Power Equipment Co., Ltd. supplied boiler ignition systems for Colombia's GECELCA coal-fired power plant. The ignition gun serves as the terminal actuator of high-energy ignition devices, working in tandem with high-energy igniters and ignition cables to reliably ignite fuels such as light diesel and heavy oil under high-temperature and harsh operating conditions. The second phase of the GECELCA coal-fired power plant in Colombia fully adopts China design, China technology, and China equipment. While driving domestic related industries to go global, it also enables the "China standard" to be recognized locally.
